Manhattan East Students Perform in City-Wide Concert Band!

The Salute to Music Program provides an opportunity for NYC public school students to receive FREE Saturday musical instruction along with peers within their boroughs.  Each ensemble site will prepare and present a culminating concert in the spring.  Students can participate in borough based Concert Bands; Staten Island, Queens, and Bronx based Orchestras; Queens and Manhattan based Choruses; Citywide Jazz ensemble; Citywide Modern Band.  The Citywide Jazz Ensemble meets at IS 318 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and the Citywide Modern Band meets in Lower Manhattan.  Students who demonstrate proficient skill will be accepted into the appropriate Borough-Wide instrumental ensemble.  Participation in a Junior Ensemble may be available for students who have completed at least one year of instrumental study and show promise of acquiring the skills necessary for advancement.

 Concert Band: This ensemble is for students who have been playing a wind or percussion instrument for at least six months in their school or with a private teacher. The following instruments are accepted: Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone Horn, Tuba and Percussion (Drums and Bells).
